Nitish Kumar inspected the new terminal at Patna Airport, it will provide great facilities for passengers.

Patna March 13, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna on Thursday morning to review the progress of the new terminal building and other ongoing infrastructure projects.

During the inspection, top officials including Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, Patna DM Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, and other senior officials accompanied the CM.

Nitish Kumar reviewed key facilities:

Nitish Kumar inspected the under-construction terminal, approach roads, and other passenger amenities.

The CM instructed officials to expedite the construction and ensure timely completion.

Officials present at the site, assured him on-time completion of the project. They confirmed that the work is progressing at a fast pace and will be completed within the deadline.

“After the completion of the project, it will provide a great facility to passengers,” Kumar said.

Infrastructure boost for Bihar:

This inspection comes as part of Nitish Kumar’s focus on improving urban infrastructure, with similar reviews conducted for Bihta Airport and Purnea Airport.

Patna Airport remains the busiest in Bihar, handling flights from major cities and international flights from Kathmandu.

The new terminal building is expected to enhance passenger capacity and improve air connectivity, aligning with Bihar’s growing travel demands.

 Patna’s Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport is undergoing a significant transformation with the construction of a new terminal building, set to enhance passenger capacity and modernize facilities.

The new terminal, spanning 65,155 square meters, is designed to handle over 8 million passengers annually, a substantial increase from the current capacity of approximately 2.5 million.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is actively pushing for better air connectivity in Bihar. He has recently inspected Bihta Airport on the outskirts of the capital.

Land has already been transferred to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) for construction.

Besides Patna, Gaya International Airport is the only airport in Bihar with regular international flights, mainly catering to Buddhist pilgrims.

Darbhanga Airport is also operational in Bihar and it is a key hub for domestic flights in North Bihar.

During the Union budget 2025-26, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has sanctioned three new Greenfield airports in Bihar.

The construction of Purnea Airport has already started and land acquisition completed.

Bihar Government’s Focus on Infrastructure Development:

Nitish Kumar has been personally monitoring major infrastructure projects, ensuring rapid progress in urban development. With these airport projects, Bihar is set to become a key hub for air travel in eastern India.
