Patna, June 30, 2026: A review meeting was held on Tuesday at the Mini-Secretariat in Gurugram under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Uttam Singh to assess measures for the conservation of Sultanpur National Park and the effective enforcement of regulations within its Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ).
The meeting focused on environmental conservation, monitoring of illegal construction, inter-departmental coordination, and implementation of rules governing the Eco-Sensitive Zone.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that environmental regulations must be enforced strictly and that any violations would invite legal action.
Uttam Singh directed officials to inspect construction activities:
DC Uttam Singh directed officials to inspect all ongoing construction activities in the vicinity of Sultanpur National Park.
He instructed departments to verify the Change of Land Use (CLU) status of every project, permissions obtained from the competent authorities, and compliance with environmental regulations.
He emphasized that if any violation is found during inspections, action should be taken in accordance with the law.
During the meeting, District Wildlife and Liaison Officer (DWLO) Ramkumar informed officials that Sultanpur National Park is a wetland recognized under the Ramsar Convention, reflecting its international ecological importance.

He stated that the Haryana government has declared a five-kilometre Eco-Sensitive Zone around the park.
In this area, several restrictions are in force, including restrictions on new commercial construction, restrictions on the installation of mobile towers, restrictions on buildings with glass facades, a ban on the use of single-use plastic, a prohibition on burning solid waste and crop residue, and restrictions on the use of loudspeakers and high-decibel horns near the park.
These measures are intended to protect the park’s fragile ecosystem and minimize disturbance to wildlife.
Focus on protecting migratory birds:
Uttam Singh described Sultanpur National Park as one of Gurugram’s important natural heritage sites and stressed the need for coordinated efforts by all concerned departments.
He said strict implementation of Eco-Sensitive Zone regulations is essential to preserve the park’s ecological balance and provide a safe habitat for the large number of migratory birds that visit the wetland each year.

The meeting was attended by several district officials, including DRO Vijay Yadav, DWLO Ramkumar, DTP (Enforcement) Amit Madholia, DTP R.S. Bhatt, DFO Surendra, and AEE Divyanshu.
The administration reiterated its commitment to strengthening environmental protection measures and ensuring that development activities around the park remain compliant with applicable environmental laws.
