CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated final phase of Ganga Path, eases travel from Digha to Didarganj.

Patna, April 10, 2025: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday inaugurated the fourth and final phase of the JP Ganga Path project, connecting Kangan Ghat to Didarganj.
With this 5 km stretch now operational, seamless vehicular movement from Digha to Didarganj has become a reality_ significantly easing traffic congestion across Patna city.
Amid chants of Nitish Kumar Zindabad” and “Nandkishore Yadav Zindabad, “the CM launched the stretch remotely. Senior leaders Vijay Kumar Sinha, Samrat Chaudhary, and Nitin Naveen attended the event.

Also known locally as Patna’s Marine Drive, JP Ganga Path spans 20.5 km and has been built at a cost of Rs 3831 crore by the Bihar State Path Nirman Nigam.
The project was inaugurated in phase starting from 2022, with the foundation laid on October 11, 2013, the birth anniversary of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan.

This new road offers multi-point connectivity to key locations like Atal Path, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, NIT, LCT Ghat, and Krishna Ghat reducing travel time between Patna’s east and west ends.
It also links to major bridges like JP Setu and Mahatma Gandhi Setu, enhancing North-South access.
The final phase inauguration marks a significant milestone under the Smart Patna initiative, offering not just infrastructure upgrades but also a scenic riverfront that is fast becoming a tourist attraction. Plans are underway to develop the area into a major public park and cultural hub.
JP Ganga Path: A Game- Charger for Connectivity and Urban Development in Patna:
The extension of JP Ganga Path is not just about easing traffic it’s transforming urban mobility and boosting connectivity to tourist, medical, educational, religious, and social hubs across Patna and beyond.
With this inauguration, the marine drive will connect Digha, Atal Path, LCT Ghat, Krishna Ghat, Patna Ghat, and Didarganj. It will also link to JP Setu, Mahatma Gandhi Setu, and Patna Ring Road.

Under the Smart Patna Scheme, the Ganga Path Zone scenic and recreational park.
The path is now extended up to Koilwar Bridge in Bihta, creating direct links from Patna to Ara- Buxar (NH-922), and the Purvanchal Expressway strengthening inter-district and inter-state connectivity.
