Patna, June 15, 2026: Amid the continuing political discussion over the government bungalow allocations in Bihar, Nishant Kumar, son of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, was allotted the 5 Desh Ratna Marg bungalow in Patna on Monday.

The bungalow was earlier allotted to former Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary during his tenure in office.

However, after he vacated the residence, the bungalow reportedly remained unoccupied for some time.

According to sources, the Bihar government recently carried out major changes in the allocation of ministerial residences, leading to the reassignment of several official bungalows.

Nishant Kumar was allotted bungalow after Deputy CMs declined to reside at 5 Desh Ratna Marg:

Reports indicate that the 5 Desh Ratna Marg Bungalow was initially proposed for allotment to Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary.

However, he reportedly declined to shift there.

Subsequently, the residence was also offered to another Deputy Chief Minister, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, who similarly chose to continue staying at his current official residence.

Following these developments, the state government finally allotted the bungalow to Nishant Kumar.

Changes in other ministerial residences:

Before this latest decision, Nishant Kumar had reportedly been allotted the 2 Desh Ratna Marg bungalow.

However, under the revised arrangement, that residence has now been reassigned to Ram Kripal Yadav, who is expected to move there.

The reshuffle of official residences has once again fueled political discussion in Bihar, particularly because the Desh Ratna Marg Bungalows are considered among the most prominent government residences in Patna’s political and administrative circles.

The allotment of 5 Deshratna Marg Bungalow came amid the Building Construction Department of Bihar has issued a notice to former Chief Minister Rabri Devi to vacate the 10 Circular Road Bungalow.

The deadline to vacate the 10 Circular Road Bungalow is June 15, 2026. It would be interesting to see the move of the Samrat Choudhary government and the response of the Lalu Prasad Yadav family.
