Housing schemes transform the lives of economically weaker families in Gurugram.

Gurugram, June 16, 2026: The implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Shahri Awas Yojana has significantly improved housing access for economically weaker families in Gurugram, with thousands of beneficiaries receiving permanent homes under the central and state government initiatives.

Officials stated that the schemes, being implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, are aimed at providing dignified housing to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Low-Income Groups (LIG), and other needy urban families.

Housing scheme under PM Awas Yojana (Urban) 1.0:

According to the Municipal Corporation Gurugram, a total of 537 applications were received under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 1.0 within the municipal limits.

After verification and eligibility assessment, 323 beneficiaries were found eligible and provided benefits under the scheme.

Authorities stated that financial assistance was extended to the eligible families and construction activities were regularly monitored to ensure proper implementation.

Officials said the initiative helped many families fulfill their dream of owning a permanent home while improving their standard of living.

The application and verification process under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 is currently ongoing.

So fat, Letters of Intent (LoIs) have reportedly been issued to 15 eligible beneficiaries, while scrutiny of other applications is continuing according to departmental guidelines.

The Municipal Corporation stated that awareness campaigns are being conducted to ensure that more eligible families can avail themselves of the scheme.

2,709 flats allotted under the Haryana housing scheme:

Under the Mukhyamantri Shahri Awas Yojana, launched by the Haryana government, applications were invited from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in 2023.

Following verification and eligibility checks, flats were allotted to 2,709 eligible beneficiaries in various sectors and developed residential societies in Gurugram during March 2026.

Officials said the scheme has provided safe and quality housing to thousands of economically weaker families.

Rajrani Malhotra, Mayor of Municipal Corporation Gurugram, said that housing security provided under these schemes is contributing to both social and economic empowerment of needy families.

Meanwhile, Pradeep Dahiya, the Municipal Commissioner of Gurugram, stated that the Corporation is ensuring transparent and time-bound implementation of all housing initiatives,

He added that the process—from beneficiary selection to allotment and financial assistance—is being carried out according to established rules and guidelines.

According to officials, the housing initiatives are emerging as a major step toward social security and inclusive urban development in Haryana.
