Gurugram, May 29, 2026: District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh on Friday announced that the Election Commission of India (ECI) will launch a comprehensive campaign under the Special Intensive Revision Program-2026 for the electoral rolls of Assembly constituencies.

The initiative aims to ensure that no eligible citizen is excluded from the voter list and that no ineligible individual is included.

Addressing a press conference at the Mini Secretariat, Uttam Singh informed that July 1, 2026, has been fixed as the qualifying date for the revision campaign.

Citizens who attain the age of 18 years on or before July 1, 2026, will be eligible to enroll as voters.

He stated that the preliminary phase of the campaign will be conducted from June 5 to June 14, 2026.

During this period, Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) representing political parties will undergo training regarding the Election Commission’s guidelines and the voter list revision process.

Uttam Singh said the BLOs will visit door to door for the SIR:

Uttam Singh explained that BLOs will subsequently carry out door-to-door visits to assist voters in filling out enumeration forms, updating photographs, and collecting signed forms.

Form-6 for new voter registration will also be made available.

In addition, voters will be able to submit applications online through the Election Commission’s portal.

He further informed that rationalization of polling stations across the district will be undertaken from June 14 to June 26.

The exercise is aimed at ensuring that no polling station has more than 1,200 voters and that no elector has to travel more than 2 kilometers to cast their vote.

Efforts will also be made to keep members of the same family or locality assigned to the same polling station wherever possible. According to the announced schedule, the draft voter list will be published on July 21, 2026.

Claims and objections related to the voter list will be accepted from July 21 to September 18, 2026.

Notices will be issued to voters whose names are missing, and claims will be adjudicated based on prescribed documents.

Uttam Singh detailed the documentation requirements for voter registration.

Citizens born before July 1, 1987, will be required to submit one valid personal document. Those born between July 1, 1987, and December 2, 2004, must provide one document of their own along with one document of either parent.

Applicants born after December 2, 2004, will have to submit one personal document along with one document each from both parents.

Gurugram has 1,555,039 registered voters:

Providing details about the district electorate, Uttam Singh stated that Gurugram currently has 1,555,039 registered voters.

Out of these, 546,970 voters—approximately 35.17 percent—have already been mapped, and the figure is expected to increase during the upcoming enumeration process.

He further noted that, following a preliminary assessment across the district’s four Assembly constituencies, proposals for 251 new polling stations have been made.

Special emphasis is being placed on establishing separate polling stations in group housing societies and high-rise residential complexes.

Appealing to residents, Uttam Singh urged citizens to cooperate fully with BLOs during the survey process.

He advised voters to carefully verify their names, addresses, dates of birth, and other particulars once the draft voter list is released and to file claims or objections within the stipulated timeframe in case of discrepancies.

He emphasized that strict adherence to the Election Commission’s timelines is mandatory and clarified that all claims and objections will only be entertained during the officially designated period.
