Patna, May 12, 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday evening directed officials to expedite the rollout of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections across Bihar, with a special focus on colonies, apartments, and other housing complexes.
The directive was issued during a review meeting of the Food and Consumer Protection Department held at the Sankalp Conference Hall of the Lok Sewak Awas in Patna, chaired by the Chief Minister.
Samrat Choudhary’s government is focusing on expanding PNG coverage:
Emphasizing the government’s priority, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary instructed officials to ensure that PNG connections reach the maximum number of households at the earliest.

“Our priority is to maximize convenience for the common people; take every necessary step to achieve this,” he said, urging officials to accelerate work, particularly in densely populated residential complexes.
Status of PNG and fuel supply:
During the meeting, Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Food and Consumer Protection Department, presented detailed data on fuel supply and consumption in the state.
According to the presentation, around 1.12 lakh PNG connections are currently operational in Bihar, over 25,800 applications have already been received, and installation work is progressing rapidly.
Samrat Choudhary also reviewed the availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG, assuring that there is no shortage of fuel in the state.

He appealed to citizens to use four-wheeled vehicles only when necessary and encouraged a shift towards electric vehicles to promote sustainable energy use.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Ashok Choudhary, the minister of the food and consumer protection department, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. B Rajender, Secretary to the Chief Minister Lokesh Kumar Singh, and Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Kumar Singh.
Officials from oil companies were also present during the review meeting.
