Patna, May 9, 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary extended his congratulations to Suvendu Adhikari after he took oath as Chief Minister, marking the formation of the first-ever BJP government in West Bengal.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the iconic Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, where several senior leaders from across the country were present.
Samrat Choudhary calls it a historic milestone:
Sharing his thoughts on the social media platform X, Choudhary described the BJP’s growing national presence.
“This milestone in the BJP’s journey from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar reflects new heights of public trust, organizational strength, and nationalism,” he said.
He added that witnessing the oath-taking ceremony was a privilege and described the occasion as one that would remain “forever memorable.”

Congratulating Adhikari, Choudhary said, “Under your leadership, West Bengal will achieve new heights of development and good governance.”
He also expressed confidence that, under the guidance of Narendra Modi, welfare schemes would reach every eligible citizen in the state.
Ceremony coincides with Tagore Jayanti:
The oath-taking ceremony coincided with Pochishe Boishakh, the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
Tributes were paid to Gurudev Tagore during the event, adding cultural and historical significance to the occasion.
Samrat Choudhary noted that May 9, 2026, would be remembered as a landmark day marking a new chapter of hope, dignity, and good governance.

Choudhary also extended his wishes to other leaders who took oath as ministers, including Dilip Ghosh, Paulani Mitra, Ashok Kirtaniya, Ksudiram Tudu, and Nitish Pramanik.
He expressed confidence that the new government would usher in an era of good governance, security, prosperity, and public welfare.

The formation of a BJP government in West Bengal is being seen as a major political development, potentially reshaping the state’s political landscape.

Samrat Choudhary’s remarks underline the NDA’s optimism about expanding its governance model and strengthening its footprint across India.
