Bullet train project gaining momentum: 300 km viaduct completed.

Patna, May 24, 2025: India’s first bullet train project the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor is moving rapidly toward completion, with significant milestones already achieved.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently announced the successful completion of a 300 km long viaduct, sharing a video showcasing the progress.

The announcement marks a major step in India’s journey toward high-speed rail connectivity.

A key highlight includes the installation of a 40-meter-long box girder near Surat, Gujarat, demonstrating engineering prowess and rapid construction facilitated by modern technology.

This is a proud moment under the vision of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ the bullet train project will redefine India’s transport landscape.

Rapid construction with advanced technology for bullet train project:

Out of the 300 km viaduct, 257.4 km has been constructed using Full Span Launching Technology, which enables construction 10 times faster than traditional methods.

The heavy span girders used in this process weigh up to 970 tones, showcasing India’s growing capabilities in large-scale infrastructure.

Surat station near completion:

The corridor will include 12 state-of-the-art stations, with Surat set to become India’s first fully operational bullet train station.

Construction at other stations is progressing at a fast pace. The project includes major river bridges, steel and PSC bridges, and the installation of over 3 lakh noise barriers to ensure a quiet and comfortable travel experience.

Make in India at the forefront:

A majority of the technology and machinery, including launching gantries, bridge gantries, and girder transporters, have been manufactured in India, reflecting the country’s self-reliance in high-speed rail construction.

The trial run between Surat and Bilimora is expected by 2026. The operations on the Surat-Bilimora route are targeted for August 2026 and full project completion is expected by 2029.
