Bhagalpur administration installed EPCM on the Kawarias route.
Patna July 25: The Bhagalpur administration installed an E-People Counting Machine (EPCM) on the Sultanganj-Deoghar route to count the number of Kawarias and avoid untoward incidents due to excessive crowds.
During the month of Sawan, lakhs of Lord Shiva devotees travel from the bank of the Ganga River in Sultanganj, Bhagalpur district and walk to Deoghar in Jharkhand traveling 105 KM passing through Banka district.
Bhagalpur administration installed EPCM to count numbers: The functionality of EPCM is based sensor that reads the heartbeat of Kawarias, allowing it to gather data on the number of individuals walking on this route.
The equipment is being installed at Dhani-Belari Chowk located in the Bhagalpur district, a key junction where the road from Bhagalpur, Munger and Banka converge. For the safety and security of the Kawarias, CCTV cameras are installed at every place to monitor them and provide help as per the requirement. The medical teams are also deployed on the routes in case of emergency.
Bhagalpur administration exercising crowd control: “We have installed an E-People Counting Machine to count the Kawarias walking on the Sultanganj-Deoghar route. The idea is to count their numbers and regularly update the Bhagalpur, Banka and Deoghar administrations to take measures of crowd control,” said Vishal Singh, an official of the E-People Counting Machine deployed at Dhani-Belari Chowk.
“A few years ago, a stampede occurred in Deoghar due to excessive crowd. This device will help the administration to know about the attendance of Kawarias in the respective districts,” Singh said.
