Lucknow July 2: In a tragic incident on Tuesday afternoon, 121 people, died in a major stampede in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district.

The stampede occurred during a Satsang event dedicated to Lord Shiva in Ratibhanpur village under Sikandarabhau police station.

Thousands of devotees had gathered for the spiritual event when the stampede happened. Many others were injured and have been admitted to nearby hospitals, with those seriously injured referred to higher medical centers.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the incident, extending his condolences to the families of the deceased and the injured.

He directed officials to expedite relief work and ensure proper treatment for the injured. Additionally, the Chief Minister stated that Uttar Pradesh cabinet ministers Laxmi Narayan Choudhary and Sandeep Choudhary were on their way to Hathras, and both the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP) had been directed to reach the location.

To investigate the incident, an investigative team led by Additional Director General (ADG) Agra has been constituted. The Chief Minister emphasized that the rescue operations are being conducted on a war footing to manage the situation and prevent further casualties.
