Chandigarh, April 24, 2026: Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh on Friday underscored India’s transition from women empowerment to women-led development, stating that the country is increasingly recognizing the immense potential of Nari Shakti.
Addressing the annual convocation ceremony of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women in Chandigarh, the Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that states like Haryana are witnessing a rise in women-led startups, reflecting growing leadership and entrepreneurial spirit among women.
The First Lady of Haryana, Mitra Ghosh, was also present on the occasion.
Ashim Kumar Ghosh emphasized the role of students:
Emphasizing the role of youth, the Governor described students as the backbone of India’s future as it moves towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. He noted that innovation, skill development, and entrepreneurship will play a decisive role in this journey.
He expressed confidence that students of MCM DAV College will contribute meaningfully to nation-building and uphold the vision of a progressive and prosperous India.

Congratulating the graduating students, he said that a convocation ceremony marks not the end, but the beginning of a new phase in life.
“Education opens doors to limitless opportunities, and true success lies in continuous learning and growth,” he remarked, encouraging students to pursue excellence in both academic and professional spheres.
Praise for institutions:
The Governor lauded the college’s six-decade legacy, noting that it has produced distinguished alumni who have excelled both in India and abroad.
He appreciated the institution’s commitment to holistic education, shaping students into intellectually capable and socially responsible individuals.

On the occasion, the Governor awarded Ph.D. degrees to faculty members, honored toppers from Punjab University, and released the college’s research journal “New Horizons.”
Among those present were Pritam Pal, Vice President of DAV College Managing Committee; Sqn. Ldr. P. Bharat, ADC to the Governor; Prof. Yogesh Kumar Rawal, Dean Students Welfare; and Principal Neena Sharma, along with other dignitaries.
