Chandigarh. April 16, 2026: Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Governor of Haryana, called upon the Bengali community to witness and learn from the rapid and holistic development taking place across the state.

He made these remarks while addressing the Pohela Boishakh (Bengali New Year) celebrations organized by Bangiya Sanskritka Sammilani at Banga Bhawan in Chandigarh.

 Lady Governor Mitra Ghosh was also present on the occasion.

Ashim Kumar Ghosh’s calls to align with development momentum:

Highlighting the strengths of the Bengali community—its hard work, intellect, and rich cultural heritage—the Governor encouraged members to move forward by aligning their aspirations with Haryana’s development trajectory.

 He noted that the state has made remarkable progress across sectors and now ranks among the top in sports achievements, industrial growth, and educational development. GST collection and per capita income.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of Bangiya Sanskritka Sammilani in preserving and promoting Bengali folk traditions and lok sanskriti.

He particularly lauded Amit Bhattacharjee for reviving the traditional folk theatre form ‘ Jatra—Sonai Dighi.’

He said it is a matter of pride that Bengali festivals and cultural practices continue to thrive with enthusiasm even outside their home state.

Extending his greeting on Poheka Boishakh, Ashim Kumar Ghosh emphasized the importance of cultural continuity alongside development.

Vibrant cultural performances:

The event featured colorful traditional performances by members of the Sammilani, showcasing Bengali’s rich artistic heritage.

Several prominent individuals were present, including Vijay Kumar Bhavikatti, P. Bharat, Shankha Chatterjee, and Deepak De.

The celebration reflected a blend of cultural pride and developmental vision, with the Governor encouraging communities to preserve their heritage while actively participating in the state’s growth story.
