Chandigarh, June 8, 2026: Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh on Monday felicitated presiding officers and distinguished delegates from across the country participating in the 2nd Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-2 North Zone Conference at Lok Bhavan, Haryana.
The three-day conference, being hosted by the Haryana Legislative Assembly from June 8 to 10, has brought together Speakers, Chairpersons, Deputy Speakers, and legislators from several states to deliberate on key legislative and governance issues while strengthening parliamentary cooperation and democratic institutions.
In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of environmental conservation and sustainable development, all delegates travelled to Lok Bhavan in electric buses, underlining the event’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly practices.
Among the dignitaries felicitated by Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh were Om Birla, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, West Bengal Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta, Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, and Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather, along with Chairpersons, Deputy Chairpersons, and Deputy Speakers from various state legislatures.

As part of the program, Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Harivansh, and Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan planted saplings in the premises of Lok Bhavan, conveying a collective message of environmental stewardship and sustainable growth.

The event was also attended by First Lady of Haryana Mitra Ghosh, Haryana Chief Minister’s wife Suman Saini, Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mahipal Dhanda, development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Panwar, besides legislators and parliamentary representatives from the five legislatures constituting the CPA India Region Zone-2.
The conference is expected to provide an important platform for exchanging ideas on legislative best practices, parliamentary procedures, and effective governance while fostering stronger cooperation among state legislatures across the northern region.
