Patna, July 8, 2026: In a move aimed at strengthening its organizational structure in Bihar, the Janata Dal (United) [JD (U)] State President Umesh Kushwaha, on Wednesday, announced the new state committee.
He announced the names following the approval of former Chief Minister and JD(U) National President Nitish Kumar.
The newly constituted team comprises 12 State Vice-Presidents, 38 State General Secretaries, and 74 State Secretaries.
The party has also announced 15 organizational cells and appointed nine state spokespersons. MLC Neeraj Kumar has been reappointed as the party’s Chief Spokesperson.
Umesh Kushwaha included a blend of experienced and young leaders:
The new state committee retains several senior leaders while inducting a number of young faces into key organizational roles.
The party said that social and caste representation was also considered while finalizing the committee.
Former MPs, former MLAs, former ministers, and sitting legislators have been accommodated in the new team.

The party has appointed Ramesh Rishidev, Mahabali Singh, Vinod Yadav, Sanjay Singh, Sumit Kumar Singh, Manjar Alam, Kaladhar, Mandal, Pramila Kumari Prajapati, Gyanchand Patel, Malti Singh, Kiran Ranjan, and Parshuram Tatwa as state vice-presidents.

“Those who are hardworking and performed well in the Assembly elections have been given a place in the committee. Those who continue to do good work in the future will also get an opportunity,” Kushwaha said.
Long-awaited organizational expansion:
The announcement comes months after the JD(U)’s organizational elections held in March, during which Nitish Kumar was elected National President and the party’s national committee was constituted.
The formation of the Bihar state committee had remained pending since then, with party leaders and workers awaiting the new appointments.

While the committee includes several familiar faces, many aspirants find a place in the new organizational structure.
The response of party leaders and workers to the new team is expected to become clearer in the coming days.
