Patna January 24, 2025: Union Minister of Agricultural Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a review meeting with ministers and officials of Bihar’s agricultural department in Patna on Friday.

The meeting cantered around the progress of the agricultural sector in the state and preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Bhagalpur on February 24, where the Prime Minister is expected to issue the next instalment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

PM Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Bhagalpur aims to bolster development in Bihar’s agricultural sector.

During the visit, PM Modi will issue the next instalment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, a scheme aimed at supporting small farmers.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan congratulated the Nitish Kumar government for its efforts in preparing the fourth agricultural road map to guide the state’s growth.

He praised Bihar’s progress in agriculture, noting that this is the third review meeting he has conducted for the state’s agricultural sector.

Utilization of Central Funds:

Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed satisfaction over the proper utilization of central government funds allocated to Bihar. He announced that the next budget will allocate additional funds for the improvement and development of Bihar’s farmers.

“Bihar farmers have demonstrated exceptional performance in crops such as Makhana (Fox Nut), Mushroom, Honey, Litchi, and banana farming. It needs more research and development in these crops to enhance productivity and marketing,” Chouhan said.

“Traditional hand-based farming methods dominate Makhana cultivation. The central government is exploring the introduction of mechanized solutions to modernize Makhana farming. There is a growing demand for establishing a centre of excellence in Bihar to support agricultural research and innovation and the central government will review and consider the proposal,” Chouhan said.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted Bihar’s fertile lands and the hard-working nature of its farmers, crediting these factors to the state’s potential in agriculture.

He assured that the central government, under PM Modi’s leadership, would continue supporting Bihar’s agricultural growth.

The Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s remarks reflected optimism about Bihar’s future in agriculture and emphasized the central and state government’s collaboration to drive agricultural development.
