Patna, July 29, 2026: The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, on Wednesday approved 24 agenda items, including the recruitment of 22,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers, the Bihar Sports Policy 2026, major infrastructure projects, and initiatives aimed at boosting agriculture, industry, and urban development.
In a significant decision under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, the Cabinet approved the filling of 22,000 vacancies for Anganwadi workers and helpers.
The move is expected to strengthen child nutrition, early childhood care, and maternal welfare services across the state.
Cabinet approved Bihar sports policy 2026:
The Cabinet also approved the Bihar Sports Policy 2026, aimed at promoting sports and nurturing athletic talent across the state.
The policy includes the launch of several initiatives, including the Bihar State Sports Scholarship Scheme and a talent identification program, to encourage young sportspersons and strengthen Bihar’s sporting ecosystem.
To strengthen the state’s agricultural marketing network, the Cabinet approved a Rs 106.39 crore scheme for expending Vegfed’s three-tier cooperative structure under the Bihar State Vegetable Processing and Marketing Scheme.
The project includes the development of block-level infrastructure, provision of working capital to cooperative societies, and the supply of refrigerated vehicles to improve the storage and transportation of vegetables.
The Road Construction Department received administrative approval for the construction of two high-level reinforced cement concrete (RCC) bridges on NH-333A in Jamui district.
A bridge over the Kiul River at Nariyana Ghat on the Khaira-Sona road (72 km) will be built at a cost of Rs 93.82 crore, and another bridge over the Mangobandar-Suknar River at the 80 km mark of the same highway will be constructed at a cost of Rs 55.96 crore.
These projects are expected to improve road connectivity and facilitate smoother transportation in the region.
Cooperative sugar mills planned in Mithilanchal:
The Cabinet approved projects to establish new cooperative sugar mills and industries based on sugarcane by-products at the defunct sugar mills sites in Raiyam (Darbhanga) and Sakri (Madhubani).
The initiative aims to provide better market opportunities for sugarcane farmers, generate employment for local youth, and accelerate industrial development in the Mithilanchal region.
Administrative approval was also granted for an urban water supply project under the AMRUT 2.0 Mission.
Under this project, Lakhisarai will receive Rs 150.96 crore and Kishanganj has been allotted Rs 53.71 crore for a similar project.
The schemes are expected to provide clean and safe drinking water to lakhs of urban residents.
With approvals spanning women and child welfare, sports, agriculture, infrastructure, industry, and urban development, the Cabinet’s decisions are aimed at strengthening public services, creating employment opportunities, and accelerating Bihar’s overall development.
