Gurugram, July 26, 2026: Haryana’s Minister for Sainik Welfare, Rao Narbir Singh, said the indomitable courage, valour, and supreme sacrifice of the heroes of the Kargil war continue to inspire every Indian.
He stated that the nation will forever remain indebted to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives while defending the country’s sovereignty and that Kargil Vijay Diwas is an occasion to pay heartfelt tribute to these immortal martyrs.
Rao Narbir Singh was addressing a commemorative program organized by the Freedom Fighters’ Successors Committee, Haryana (Gurugram) on Sunday at the Freedom Fighters’ Memorial and District War Memorial in Civil Lines to mark Kargil Vijay Diwas. Colonel R.K. Sharma attended the event as the special guest.
Floral Tributes to Martyrs and Freedom Fighters by Rao Narbir Singh:
During the ceremony, Rao Narbir Singh paid floral tributes at the District War Memorial and Freedom Fighters’ Memorial, honouring the sacrifices of soldiers and freedom fighters.
A two-minute silence was also observed in memory of the martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation.
The minister said that the courage and patriotism displayed by the Kargil heroes would continue to motivate future generations and strengthen the spirit of national pride.
On the occasion, Kapoor Singh Dalal, President of the Freedom Fighters’ Successors Committee, urged the minister to expedite the remaining development work at the Freedom Fighters’ Memorial.
Responding to the request, Rao Narbir Singh assured that every possible effort would be made to complete the pending works at the memorial.
He emphasized that such memorials play a vital role in preserving the legacy of freedom fighters and soldiers while inspiring the younger generation with the values of patriotism, selflessness, and sacrifice.
Addressing the gathering, Subedar Bijendra Singh Thakran recalled the sacrifice made by the martyrs during the Kargil conflict.
He highlighted the extraordinary bravery, determination, and resilience displayed by Indian soldiers under extremely challenging conditions and remembered the historic victory achieved through their courage and dedication.

The program was attended by several distinguished guests, including Kapoor Singh Dalal, Master Matadin Yadav, Subedar Bijendra Singh Thakran, Lalchand Rohilla, Banwar Lal Sharma, Samarjit Singh, Yogesh Yadav Kaliwas, Baljit sarpanch, Jagbir Singh Sukhrali, Devendra Sheoran, Ashok Gehlot, Kartik Gehlot, Rajesh Malik, Umesh Kumar, Praveen Yadav, Rajbir Bhambhu, Preteek Punia, and Shivlal Panvde, along with members of the committee, families of freedom fighters, ex-servicemen, and numerous local residents.
The ceremony concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the ideals of patriotism, national unity, and selfless service embodied by India’s brave soldiers and freedom fighters.
