CM Nitish Kumar launched major agriculture initiatives to boost farmers in Bihar on Monday.

Patna, May 19, 2025: In a significant push toward modernizing agriculture in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched several ambitious schemes at Krishi Bhawan, Mithapur in Patna on Monday.

These initiatives aim to empower farmers with digital tools, improved infrastructure and expanded human resources.

Nitish Kumar unveiled Kharif Mahabhiyan 2025:

The highlight of the event was the launch of Kharif Mahabhiyan-2025, a targeted campaign to assist farmers in the cultivation of Kharif crops through timely inputs, guidance and support.

In addition, he also led the foundation stone for 62 sub-divisional Krishi Bhawans to enhance accessibility to agriculture services at the grassroots.

The construction of Agriculture Engineering College in Ara (Bhojpur) officially begins on Monday.

With an investment of Rs 144.72 crore, the college will be positioned to become a hub for innovation, research, and skill development in the state’s agri-sector.

Bihar Krishi Mobile App digitally empowers farmers:

One of the most anticipated announcements is the launch of the Bihar Krishi Mobile App, which promises to bring convenience and transparency to farmers’ fingertips.

The app will allow farmers to access agriculture schemes and track status, access a digital passbook, detail scheme benefits, payment application, view market prices weather updates, soil health cards and get crop care advice.

The initiative is being seen as a transformative step toward making Bihar’s agriculture smart, modern and self-reliant.

Boost to horticulture: appointment letters for 315 officers:

On the occasion, CM Nitish Kumar also distributed appointment letters to 315 new Block Horticulture Officers, of whom 150 were women, reinforcing the state’s commitment to women’s empowerment in the agriculture sector.

Apart from Nitish Kumar, the program was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Health Minister Mangal Pandey and Building Construction Minister Jayant Raj.

According to an official, these combined efforts will equip farmers with critical information and infrastructure, improve service delivery at the block level, and promote transparency and accountability.

Agriculture experts have praised the initiative, calling it a major leap toward Bihar’s goal of agriculture self-reliance and rural transformation.
