Rao Narbir Singh reviews Gurugram development works, focusing on drainage and infrastructure.

Gurugram, May 4, 2026: Rao Narbir Singh, Haryana’s Minister of Industries and Commerce, chaired a high-level review meeting in Gurugram on Monday to assess the status of key civic infrastructure and public services.

The meeting, held at the PWD Rest House, was attended by senior officials from Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), including GMDA CEO P.C. Meena and Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya.

Rao Narbir Singh emphasized faster development and focused on monsoon preparedness:

During the meeting, Rao Narbir Singh directed officials to accelerate development works and ensure that citizens do not face inconvenience.

He placed special emphasis on resolving waterlogging issues before the monsoon session.

A detailed review of the drainage system was conducted, with instructions to complete cleaning, de-silting, and maintenance of major drains within strict timelines.

Officials informed that three major drains under the city’s Master Drainage Network are operational, and work on drainage systems in Sectors 68 to 75 and 112 to 115 is progressing.

They also highlighted a reduction in identifying waterlogging hotspots compared to previous years.

Road projects worth thousands of crores underway:

Rao Narbir Singh also reviewed road infrastructure projects and directed timely completion.

According to officials, projects worth Rs 477 crore are currently under execution within GMDA limits, works worth Rs 1,271 crore are in the tendering/allotment stage, and new projects totaling Rs 1,870 crore are under planning and approval.

Raoi Narbir Singh emphasized prioritizing service roads along the Dwarka Expressway, along with sector-dividing roads and master roads.

The Municipal Corporation reported that door-to-door waste collection through 400 vehicles and daily mechanized cleaning of around 540 km of roads.

The minister issued directions for zero tolerance towards negligence in waste disposal and stressed regular monitoring to maintain cleanliness standards.

Ensuring adequate water supply:

Reviewing drinking water arrangements, officials stated that Gurugram’s total water treatment capacity under GMDA stands at 670 MLD, with about 455 MLD currently being supplied.

Rao Narbir Singh instructed officials to strengthen backup systems and monitoring mechanisms to avoid any water shortage during the summer months.

Concluding the meeting, Rao Narbir Singh directed all departments to complete pending development works on a priority basis.

He emphasized the need for field-level monitoring by officials and prompt resolution of public grievances.

He reiterated that the ultimate goal is to transform Gurugram into a well-planned, efficient, and citizen-friendly city.
