Rahul Gandhi’s fixing allegation sparks BJP backlash ahead of Bihar polls 2025.

Patna, June 7, 2025: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi once again accused the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to rig elections, drawing parallels with last year’s Maharashtra poll and issuing a warning of alleged “match-fixing” in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for October-November.

Responding strongly, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said, “It is natural for a person who has faced defeat to make such remarks. If someone doesn’t believe in the democratic system, then they should resign and step out of it.”

Choudhary also defended the robustness of India’s electoral process, stating that baseless accusations only reflect political frustration.

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks were made during an interview with an English daily newspaper, where he questioned the integrity of the BJP and claimed that “democracy is being subverted” under the guise of constitutional processes.

He asserted that similar political engineering could be repeated in Bihar, alleging that BJP’s tactics undermine electoral mandates.

Dinesh Sharma hit back at Rahul Gandhi: “Pouring Ghee into an extinguished lamp”:

BJP MP Dinesh Sharma also hit out at Gandhi, saying, “I will not comment on someone who is a serial loser. The Congress is trying to pour ghee into an extinguished lamp. His statements show his inability to accept India’s progress.”

Amit Malviya: “Rahul Gandhi’s aim is chaos, not clarity”:

Taking the criticism a step Further, BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya accused Rahul Gandhi of trying to undermine India’s democratic institutions.

“It’s not that Rahul doesn’t understand how the electoral process works. He does very well. But his goal is not clarity, its chaos. His repeated attempts to sow doubt in voters’ minds are deliberate, “Malviya said.

Context and Implications:

Rahul Gandhi’s comments come at a time when political temperatures are rising in Bihar ahead of the elections. His remarks on alleged rigging echo a broader narrative the Congress has been trying to build around electoral manipulation, institutional bias, and weakening democratic norms.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders have doubled down on defending electoral processes, calling the Congress’s allegations an excuse for repeated electoral failures and a tactic to distract from its diminishing political footprint.
