Patna June 4: Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav defeated JD(U) Santosh Kushwaha in the Lok Sabha election 2024 from Purnea after the final round of counting on Tuesday.
According to a close source to Pappu Yadav, the election commission has declared him the winner of the contest.
After the victory, Pappu Yadav uploaded a post on social media platform X and thanked the people of Purnea. He wrote “Pranam Purnea, Salam Purnea, Johar Purnea, Jordar Jindabad Purnea.”
The Purnea Lok Sabha seat came into the limelight ever since Pappu Yadav announced to contest here on this seat. He had merged his party (JAP) in Congress to contest from Purnea. The Purnea seat went to RJD after the seat-sharing formula of the Grand Alliance. RJD gave the ticket to Bima Bharti to contest the election from Purnea. As a result, Pappu Yadav decided to contest as an independent candidate from Purnea.
After winning the contest, he said: “My first priority is to make Purnea a crime-free district of Bihar followed by all the ongoing and pending development works. the health sector is his priority.”
