Nirmala Sitharaman’s 2-day visit to Bihar will boost the rural economy of the eastern zone.

Patna November 29, 2024: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s two-day visit to Bihar is set to focus on significant financial and developmental initiatives for the eastern region.
During her visit, she is expected to announce key projects and review the functioning of rural banks in the region, with a focus on their financial health and modernization.
Nirmala Sitharaman will review of rural banks:
Nirmala Sitharaman will hold a review meeting in Patna with officials from eight rural banks representing Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.
She will assess the status of Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) in these banks and evaluate the volume of loans disbursed to customers, exploring accelerating the digitalization of banking services to improve rural outreach and efficiency.
Youth Empowerment and Loan Distribution:
The Finance Minister will oversee the disbursement of loans worth over Rs. 1,300 crores through 26 banks in Darbhanga.
This initiative aims to promote entrepreneurship, support agriculture-based industries, and empower approximately 45,000 youth in the region to become self-reliant.
Nirmala Sitharaman will participate in the program at Raj Maidan, Darbhanga, where the loans will be distributed.
The event underscores the central government’s commitment to fostering small-scale industries and boosting economic development in the Mithilanchal region.

Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to address a public meeting at Raj Maidan, where she will outline the government’s developmental plans and priorities for the region.
