Roorkee, May 20, 2026: Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), through its Electronics & ICT (E&ICT) Academy, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SkySkill Academy to introduce specialized courses in Electric Vehicle (EV) Technology aimed at building industry-ready skills for India’s rapidly expanding electric mobility sector.
IIT Roorkee and SkySkill are focusing on practical, industry-oriented training:
The program is designed to equip engineering graduates, diploma holders, and working professionals with specialized expertise in EV technologies through a blend of academic instruction and hands-on learning.
The curriculum will cover key areas including EV architecture, battery technologies and battery-management systems, electric motors and power electronics, EV charging infrastructure, diagnostics and safety systems, and vehicle energy optimization.
According to the organizers, the program will include live online instructional sessions, practical laboratory exposure, structured assignments, and industry-oriented capstone projects based on real-world EV applications.
Participants will also complete a capstone project aimed at developing applied problem-solving skills and building professional portfolios relevant to manufacturing, R&D, and EV service sectors.
Industry-academia collaboration:
Speaking on the initiative, Sanjeev Manhas, Chief Investigator, E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, said that the rapid expansion of electric mobility requires a highly skilled workforce with both technical expertise and practical exposure.
He noted that the collaboration seeks to strengthen industry—academia engagement while preparing learners to contribute effectively to India’s evolving EV ecosystem.
Himanshu Sekhar Panda, CEO of SkySkill Academy, also emphasized the importance of academic and industry partnerships in preparing professionals for emerging technologies.
He said the initiative aims to deliver high-quality, practice-oriented learning programs aligned with the growing demands of the EV sector.
Participants who successfully complete the program and related assessments will receive certification from the E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee.
Electronics & ICT Academy is supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, and focuses on advanced training and capacity building in electronics, ICT, and emerging technologies.
SkySkill Academy specializes in industry-aligned technical training in areas such as EV technology, drone technology, and advanced engineering systems, and has trained thousands of students across India.
