CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated 6,199 projects to boost rural infra in Bihar.

Patna November 22, 2024: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 6,199 projects under the Rural Work Department on Friday.
The event was held at the Chief Minister’s residence at 1 Anne Marg, with Rural Work Department Minister Ashok Choudhary and other senior officials in attendance.
The department had been meticulously preparing for this significant occasion over the past few days.
CM Nitish Kumar’s initiation construction of 10,000 KM roads:
The projects include initiating the construction of 176 bridges and 10,000 Kilometres of road schemes at a total cost of Rs.8,837.77 crore. 36 bridges were already constructed.
Nitish Kumar Inaugurated 1,773 rural paths spanning 2,976 kilometres and 36 bridges, constructed at an expense of Rs.2,348 crore.
He also launched the construction of 4,250 rural paths covering 7,493 kilometres and 140 bridges, with an investment of Rs.6,510 crore.

These infrastructure projects aim to improve rural connectivity, reducing travel time from remote areas to the state capital, Patna, to just five hours.
The Rural Work Department is also undertaking an ambitious program to construct 25,000 kilometres of rural roads at a cost of Rs.20,000 crore, with a unique provision for 7 years of maintenance—making Bihar the first state in the country to adopt such a scheme.
These initiatives are expected to not only enhance transportation but also drive economic growth, create employment opportunities in rural areas, and significantly improve the quality of life for residents.
Bihar’s Rural Works Department oversees approximately 1,20,000 kilometres of rural roads, playing a crucial role in the state’s infrastructure development.
Recently, the Nitish Kumar government approved the Chief Minister Rural Bridge Scheme, under which bridges up to 100 meters will be constructed to further strengthen rural connectivity.
With the inauguration and commencement of projects worth thousands of crores, the state government aims to transform the rural landscape.
