Gurugram, May 17, 2026: The census operation in the district is progressing in a systematic and organized manner, with officials ensuring close monitoring and accountability at every stage.
Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh, all charge officers are regularly conducting field visits to inspect the ongoing door-to-door survey campaign.
During these visits, officers are interacting with enumerators across different areas to assess ground-level progress and provide necessary guidance. The administration is also continuously reviewing both the pace and quality of the work to ensure that the census is completed efficiently within the stipulated timeframe.
Census survey timeline and process:
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the door-to-door survey campaign, which began on May 1, is being carried out smoothly across the district and will continue until May 31.
Enumerators are visiting households to collect detailed information based on prescribed questionnaires, which is then uploaded to an online portal.
Highlighting the importance of the exercise, he stated that the census is a crucial national process that gathers comprehensive data on population demographics, housing conditions, and socio-economic status.

This data plays a key role in shaping future development plans and government policies, ensuring the effective delivery of welfare schemes to the public.
He further noted that all officials and staff involved in the operation are performing their duties with dedication.
Continuous inspections and monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to maintain data accuracy and overall quality.
The administration, he added, is committed to completing the survey in a timely and error-free manner.
Appeal to citizens:
Appealing to residents, DC Uttam Singh urged citizens to cooperate fully with census teams by providing accurate and complete information.
He also advised the public to verify the identity of enumerators through their authorized ID cards, which can be scanned to confirm authenticity.
Reiterating the broader significance of the exercise, he emphasized that the census is not merely a data collection activity but a vital national initiative that provides insights into ground realities.
These insights form the foundation for policy decisions in sectors such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Menstrual hygiene mission strengthened in Haryana:
In another development, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sonu Bhatt stated that the Haryana government is actively working to improve the health and hygiene of women and adolescent girls.
Under the Mahila Evam Kishori Samman Yojana, the state is implementing the Menstrual Hygiene Mission with the objective of promoting hygiene, dignity, and empowerment.
The initiative focuses on providing free sanitary napkins to women and adolescent girls aged 10 to 45 years belonging to below Poverty Line (BPL) families, along with awareness programs on menstrual health.

The ADC explained that this scheme represents an important step not only toward improving women’s health but also toward enhancing their social empowerment.
Eligible beneficiaries can apply through a designated portal by May 20, 2026, and can also access information and services through their nearest Anganwadi centres.
He added that the government aims to break myths and taboos surrounding menstruation, improve hygiene awareness, and ensure that women can live with dignity.
The initiative is expected to contribute to better health outcomes and positive social change across communities.
ADC Sonu Bhatt appealed to all eligible women and adolescent girls to take full advantage of the scheme and become more conscious of their health and well-being.
