Patna, April 20, 2026: Bihar’s Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, on Monday, conducted a high-level review of development works at the state manor tourism centres under the Destination Development: One State, One Global Destination initiative.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the Evaluation Matrix prepared for transforming key locations, including Gaya, Bodh Gaya, Rohtas, Kaimur and Vaishali, into world-class tourist destinations.
An analysis of the tourism ecosystem for these sites was presented, highlighting that Gaya, Bodh Gaya, and Vaishali have received high scores due to their immense historical and religious significance.
Officials informed that efforts are underway to upgrade digital infrastructure, last-mile connectivity, and civic amenities at these locations to international standards.
The meeting also explored opportunities for private sector participation, with a focus on promoting investments through the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model.
Pratyaya Amrit issues key directives to tourism department’s officials:
Following the review, the chief secretary issued several key directives to the Tourism Department.

He emphasized that development planning must be aligned with the expectations of international tourists rather than being limited to domestic needs.
He directed officials to finalize an action plan by studying successful models such as the Statue of Unity and Vaishno Devi.
Government’s vision for the tourism sector:
To boost investment, Pratyaya Amrit instructed officials to expedite the notification and implementation of industry status for the sector.
He also stressed the importance of timely documentation to ensure uninterrupted access to central government funding and schemes.
Further directions were issued to immediately enhance tourism services, including activity providers and the quality as well as the number of tourist information centres in Gaya, Rohtas and Vaishali.

The department was also instructed to continuously monitor the progress matrix and accelerate the pace of development.
Officials from the department, along with District Magistrates of the concerned districts, participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
The Chief Secretary reiterated that placing Bihar prominently on the global tourism map remains a top priority for the state government.
