Patna, May 6, 2026: A high-level cabinet meeting chaired by Samrat Choudhary approved 20 major agenda items, aimed at accelerating development, strengthening infrastructure, and enhancing welfare measures across Bihar.
Boost to investment and financial support in the cabinet meeting:
The cabinet approved the extension of the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion package until June 2026 to attract fresh investments and support industrial growth.
In a significant move for government employees and pensioners, the state cabinet also approved a proposal to facilitate easy access to loans from banks and financial institutions.

Taking a step toward digital governance, the cabinet approves Artificial Intelligence (AI) training for members of both houses of the Bihar Legislature, along with government officials and employees.
This initiative aims to build technological capacity within the administration.
400 electric buses approved for urban transport:
To reduce pollution and strengthen public transport, the state cabinet approved the operation of 400 electric buses in five major cities, including Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Darbhanga, and Purnea.
This move is expected to curb pollution while improving urban mobility.
The government medical college and hospital in Sitamarhi has been renamed Maa Sita Medical College and Hospital.

The cabinet has also approved a grant to secure a $500 million loan from the World Bank to boost silk industry clusters in the state.
Apart from that, land transfer has been approved for setting up Kendriya Vidyalaya (Central Schools) in Arwal and Sheikhpura districts.
Infrastructure and judicial strengthening:
A Rs 52 crore project has been sanctioned to protect areas in Shahpur block of Bhojpur district, including Gangapur, Bhusaulanandpur, and Damodarpur, from soil erosion caused by the Ganga River.
The government has also approved 18 new posts for the Benipur Court in Darbhanga to strengthen judicial functioning.
The Samrat Choudhary government has also approved the implementation of an I-Voting System for municipal elections, assigning responsibility to the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Hyderabad.

Additionally, the tenure of the seventh state finance commission has been extended until September 30, 2026.
These decisions reflect a comprehensive push toward modernization, economic growth, and administrative efficiency in Bihar.
From AI adoption to green transportation and infrastructure strengthening, the cabinet’s approvals are expected to significantly impact governance and public service delivery in the state.
