Gurugram, May 26, 2026: Energy minister Anil Vij has announced a major initiative aimed at making Haryana a leading state in the field of solar energy by directing the establishment of dedicated Solar Energy Desks or windows at every Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) office of the power department across the state.
The initiative is intended to provide citizens with all information and services related to solar system installation at a single, easily accessible location.
In addition to the Solar Energy Desks, the state government will also introduce a missed-call-based information system.
Through this facility, consumers interested in installing solar systems will receive detailed information regarding solar energy solutions, subsidies, and government schemes.
The directions were issued by Anil Vij while chairing a review meeting of the New and Renewable Energy Department in Chandigarh.
Ashima Brar was also present at the meeting.
Anil Vij advocated for awareness campaigns across Haryana:
During the meeting, the Minister instructed officials to prominently display awareness materials and banners at the proposed solar windows so that consumers can easily understand the benefits of adopting solar energy.
Anil Vij stressed that citizens should not face confusion or inconvenience while opting for solar systems.
Anil Vij said his priority is to make Haryana the number one state in India in the solar energy sector and directed officials to conduct extensive awareness campaigns in villages and cities throughout the state.
The Minister also directed that employees and officers making exceptional contributions toward promoting solar energy should be honored and encouraged so that more citizens are motivated to adopt renewable energy solutions.

The Review meeting also examined the functioning of the electricity complaint helpline number 1912.
Anil Vij instructed officials to ensure that every incoming call on the helpline is attended without fail and that complaints receive immediate and effective responses.
He further directed the department to make the 1912 service more technologically advanced and robust for faster resolution of electricity-related complaints.
Officials were also asked to explore additional grievance redressal mechanisms to improve consumer satisfaction.
Ashima Brar, the commissioner cum secretary of the energy department, assured the Minister that the helpline system would be further strengthened.
Haryana ranks second in solar pumps:
Officials informed the meeting that Haryana has installed 192,725 solar pumps under the PM-KUSUM Scheme, making the state the second-highest performer in the country in this category.
The state has also set a target to install 35,000 additional solar pumps during 2026-27.
Officials further informed that tenders would soon be floated for installing solar systems on government buildings across the state.

Anil Vij directed that priority in the first phase should be given to Deputy Commissioners’ offices, SDM offices, Divisional Commissioner offices, Mini Secretariats, Court complexes, Government educational institutions, and Energy Department offices.
Discussion on green energy initiatives:
The meeting also included discussions on solar street lights, the chief minister’s solar energy announcements, biomass and compressed biomass, and other green energy alternatives.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Bikram Singh, Sangeeta Teterwal, and other senior Energy Department officials.
The initiative reflects Haryana’s broader push toward renewable energy adoption and sustainable infrastructure development across the state.
