Patna, June 1, 2024: The Election Commission has recorded 10.58% voter turnout in the first 2 hours of voting in Bihar’s 8 Lok Sabha constituencies.
The seventh and final phase of polling is currently underway at 7 am in 8 constituencies across the Patna and Shahabad division.
The Election Commission records the highest turnout in Patliputra:
Among the eight constituencies, Patliputra registered the highest turnout at 12.39%, followed closely by Jehanabad with 12.21%.
Apart from Patliputra and Jehanabad, the Election Commission has registered 11.75% voter turnout at Karakat, 11.18% in Sasaram, 10.76% in Patna Sahib, 9.32% in Arrah, 9.17% in Nalanda, and 8.32% in Buxar.

RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, accompanied by former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and daughter Rohini Acharya, cast their votes at the Veterinary College polling booth in Patna, which falls under the Patliputra constituency.
A large crowd had gathered to catch a glimpse of the RJD chief, causing significant excitement at the polling station.
High-profile contests in Patliputra and Patna Sahib:
Two major constituencies, Patliputra and Patna Sahib, are witnessing a direct contest between the NDA and the Grand Alliance.
In Patliputra, BJP candidate Ram Kripal Yadav is pitted against RJD’s Misa Bharti, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav.
In Patna Sahib, sitting MP Ravi Shankar Prasad of the BJP is facing Anshul Avijit of the Congress party.
Both Ram Kripal and Ravi Shankar Prasad had won their respective seats in 2019 and are seeking re-election this year.
The Patliputra constituency has emerged as one of the most keenly watched seats in Bihar.
Ram Kripal Yadav, contesting for the third time, had previously defeated Misa Bharti by a narrow margin of 39,000 votes in 2014 and 40,000 votes in 2019.
Misa Bharti, who is also contesting for the third time, claimed that she is confident of victory this year.
With both candidates fighting for a third attempt at securing the seat, the constituency is poised for a tense battle. The final outcome will be declared on June 4.
The Election Commission has claimed the polling is underway peacefully. .
