Chandigarh, June 18, 2026: In a major boost to emergency healthcare infrastructure in Haryana, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, the Haryana Governor and President of the Haryana State Red Cross Society, flagged off nine new ambulances from Lok Bhavan on Thursday. Lady Governor Mitra Ghosh was also present during the ceremony.
The ambulances were commissioned as part of a commitment made by the Governor on his birthday, when he announced the donation of nine ambulances to the Haryana State Red Cross Society to strengthen its humanitarian and healthcare services.
The fleet, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, has now been formally dedicated to public service.
Ashim Kumar Ghosh emphasized strengthening emergency medical response:
Addressing the gathering, Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that the humanitarian work carried out by the Red Cross serves as an inspiration to society.
He described the addition of ambulances to district Red Cross branches as a significant step toward ensuring timely medical assistance for people in need.
He emphasized that ambulances are often the first line of support during medical emergencies and expressed confidence that the expanded fleet would provide much-needed relief to poor and underprivileged patients across the state.

Ashim Kumar Ghosh outlined his vision of ensuring that every district in Haryana has at least one dedicated Red Cross Society emerge as a leading institution in humanitarian assistance and emergency response services.
He also stressed that the ambulances would be made available free of cost to poor and needy patients.
Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh praised the efforts of Ankush Miglani for his contribution toward enhancing the organization’s service delivery and expanding its humanitarian outreach.
He called upon all stakeholders to work collectively to transform the Haryana State Red Cross Society into a model humanitarian organization for the country.
Call for hearse vehicles:
Speaking at the event, Ankush Muglani said the addition of nine ambulances would significantly improve emergency medical response capabilities and the timely transportation of patients requiring urgent care.
He also requested that Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh consider providing a hearse vehicle to each district branch of the Red Cross Society to further strengthen humanitarian services.
Ashim Kumar Ghosh reiterated that all Red Cross activities should be carried out strictly in accordance with established rules, procedures, and humanitarian principles to ensure beneficiaries receive services without inconvenience.

He assured continued support from Haryana Raj Bhavan for similar welfare initiatives in the future.
Among those present at the event were Vijaykumar Bhavikatti, Dheeraj Setia, Dr. Satish Kumar, Shankha Chatterjee, Rahul Dagar, Raj Shekhar Lodh, along with officials from Haryana Lok Bhavan and the Haryana State Red Cross headquarters.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve access to emergency healthcare services, particularly for economically weaker sections, while strengthening the Red Cross network across Haryana.
