Gurugram, May 4, 2026: Gurugram Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer, Uttam Singh, chaired a high-level meeting with the representatives of regional and national political parties at the Mini Secretariat on Monday.

Uttam Singh emphasized enhancing the transparency, accuracy, and reliability of the voter list.

Officials from the district administration, along with representatives from major political parties, participated in the discussion.

Uttam Singh’s emphasis on clean and accurate voter lists:

During the meeting, the District Election Officer emphasized that the credibility of the electoral process depends on active participation from all stakeholders.

He highlighted that the inclusion of eligible voters and the exclusion of ineligible names both undermine the democratic system and must be addressed proactively.

He urged political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at every polling station.

Active coordination between BLAs and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will help ensure a more accurate and transparent voter list revision process.

Uttam Singh stressed that strengthening democracy requires maximum voter participation.

He called on political parties to support awareness campaigns aimed at increasing voter turnout across the district.

Strict monitoring and timely disposal of forms:

Uttam Singh issued clear instructions to Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to coordinate regularly with political parties, monitor the appointment of BLAs, and ensure no pendency in voter-related forms.

This includes timely processing of Form 6 (new voter registration), Form 7 (deletion of names), and Form 8 (correction/updates).

He also directed officials to regularly update the voter list mapping process and stated that progress will be reviewed on a weekly basis.

Officials and party representatives present:

The meeting was attended by Sanjeev Singla, Hitendra Kumar, Akhilesh Yadav, Jyoti Nagpal, and Rajendra Hooda.

Representatives from major political parties, including the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP),  Indian National Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party, were also present.

The meeting underscores the importance of collaborative efforts between the administration and political parties to ensure a clean, transparent, and inclusive electoral roll, considered a cornerstone of a robust democratic system.
