Patna, April 22, 2026: In a significant development, the Bihar cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, convened in Patna on Wednesday and approved a total of 22 key proposals.
This marks the second cabinet meeting since the formation of the new government.
The first Bihar Cabinet meeting was held on April 15, shortly after Choudhary assumed office.
Demonstrating urgency in governance, the Chief Minister convened another meeting within six days.
Both Deputy Chief Ministers, Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, were present.
The Bihar cabinet has stopped land activity in key townships:
One of the most important decisions taken during the meeting was the imposition of an immediate moratorium on purchase, sale, transfer of land, development of land, and construction.
It is applied to designated township areas across several cities and towns.
It is applicable to townships in Patna, Sonepur, Gaya, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Purnea and Munger till March 27, 2027, and in Muzaffarpur, Chhapra, Bhagalpur, and Sitamarhi till June 30, 2027.
The restrictions are aimed at enabling the notification of Master Plans for Special Areas and Core Areas within these townships.

The Bihar cabinet also approved 1,500 scooters for female police personnel, popularly referred to as “Police Didi”. The state government will spend Rs 18.75 crore on this scheme, with each scooter costing approximately Rs 1.25 lakh.
These scooters will be deployed for patrolling in urban areas, particularly around schools, colleges, and coaching institutes, to enhance the safety and security of women.
In addition, the Bihar Cabinet approved the purchase of 3,200 motorcycles for male police personnel. Each motorcycle is estimated at Rs 1.50 lakh, bringing the total cost to Rs 48 crore.
Rs 172.8 crore approved for ERSS and state police data centre:
In another key decision, the Bihar cabinet granted administrative approval for the construction of a modern permanent facility for the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) and State Police Data Centre.
The project will be developed within the jurisdiction of Rajiv Nagar police station in Patna and will include a B+2 and G+7 structured building, along with furniture and advanced infrastructure.

The total project cost has been pegged at Rs 172.80 crore, and the expenditure will be incurred over the current and upcoming financial years.
