Prashant Kishor was hospitalized after 6 days of a hunger strike in support of BPSC candidates.

Patna, January 7, 2025: Prashant Kishor, chief of the Jan Suraj Party, has been hospitalized after falling ill during his hunger strike in support of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) candidates on Tuesday.

Dr. Ravishankar Singh, medical director of Medanta Hospital the doctors has examined his health, and a detailed report will be shared in the evening. His condition is stable. He will stay under the observation of the doctors in the ICU. 

Prashant Kishor has been on a hunger strike since January 2:

Kishor began his hunger strike on January 2 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, demanding the cancellation of the 70th BPSC examination.

His health deteriorated late Monday night, shortly after being released from the Beur jail earlier that evening. An ambulance from Medanta Hospital arrived at his residence, and Kishor was immediately transported to the hospital for treatment.

Prashant Kishor is suffering from dehydration:

A doctor accompanying the ambulance stated that Kishor was suffering from severe dehydration due to prolonged fasting.

“He has not consumed food for several days, which has led to dehydration, gastritis, and pain in both the lower and upper abdomen,” the doctor explained.

Kishor was arrested in the early hours of Monday at Gandhi Maidan while protesting. However, he was granted unconditional bail by the court and released the same evening.
