PM Narendra Modi’s great bonanza for Bihar: laid the foundation stone of 25 projects including AIIMS.
Patna November 13, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for a new AIIMS facility in Darbhanga, Bihar, on Wednesday, along with 24 other development projects aimed at boosting infrastructure and healthcare in North Bihar.
These projects, with a combined investment of Rs 12,000 crore, include four-lane roadways, a gas pipeline, and railway improvements, all intended to enhance connectivity and access to essential services in the region.
PM Narendra Modi expressed his commitment to support the poor and middle class:
Addressing a large gathering, PM Modi highlighted the NDA government’s commitment to supporting poor and middle-class families, particularly in healthcare. “Many people in our country face health challenges, and our government is working to provide quality healthcare across regions, “he stated.
AIIMS Darbhanga is envisioned as a critical healthcare center for Mithila, benefiting not only Darbhanga but also the surrounding Kosi and Seemanchal regions, parts of West Bengal, and even patients from neighboring Nepal.
Reflecting on the expansion of AIIMS facilities, PM Modi noted that for 60 years after independence, India had only one AIIMS in Delhi, which often saw patients from across the nation seeking treatment for serious illnesses.
He mentioned that while the previous Congress government initiated a few new AIIMS, they were not fully operational.
Under the NDA government, however, the number of operational AIIMS facilities has risen to 24 over the past decade.
PM Narendra Modi claimed 4 crore people benefitted from Ayushman Bharat Yojana:
He also spoke on the impact of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which has provided free treatment to 4 crore people, saving them Rs, 1.25 lakh crore in healthcare expenses.
“The scheme has particularly helped patients with critical illnesses, and as part of a previous election promise, it now also covers free treatment for elderly citizens above 70. The Ayushman Bharat cards for these elderly beneficiaries would be issued soon, making healthcare more accessible for senior citizens across the country,” PM Modi said.
PM Narendra Modi emphasized the unique health challenges faced by poor and middle-class families due to factors like malnutrition, poor sanitation, and irregular meals.
“Sanitation plays a crucial role in preventing illness, which is why the government has prioritized cleanliness initiatives through the Rashtriya Swachhta Mission, with a focus on providing accessible toilets and clean drinking water through tap connections,” he said.
“The government has ambitious plans to establish 1.5 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs nationwide. These centers will serve as health hubs offering treatment for various ailments and diagnostic facilities for serious illnesses like cancer and tuberculosis.
Additionally, under the NDA government, the number of medical colleges has doubled over the last decade, significantly expanding access to medical education and healthcare professionals in the country,” PM Narendra Modi said.
He also announced plans to further increase the number of medical college seats to 1.75 lakh, with an additional 75,000 seats in the pipeline.
PM Narendra Modi advocated for higher education in the mother language:
To make higher education more inclusive, the government has introduced provisions for medical and engineering studies to be conducted in regional languages, including Hindi.
“This initiative is aimed at enabling students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, especially those from Hindi-medium schools, to pursue careers in these fields.
It is a fulfillment of the vision of Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur, who advocated for education in mother languages,” PM Modi said.
PM Narendra Modi also noted Bihar’s progress in healthcare, pointing out the recent establishment of a state-of-the-art cancer institute in Muzaffarpur and plans for a world-class eye hospital in the state.
PM Narendra Modi also paid tribute to folk singer Sharda Sinha:
During the event, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the late folk singer Sharda Sinha, recognizing her contributions to Maithili and Bhojpuri music, particularly her iconic songs for the Chhath festival.
He also urged the people of Jharkhand to actively participate in the electoral process, underscoring the importance of their involvement in democracy.
