Narrow escape for the passengers after coupling of Sampark Kranti broke down.
Patna July 29: Narrow escape for the passengers of the Bihar Sampark Kranti Express when train’s coupling broke down in Samastipur district on Monday.
Raushan Kumar, the Senior DCM of Sonpur division, confirmed the incident.
The incident occurred at Repura railway crossing located between Karpoori Gram and Pusa railway station under the Sonpur division of East Central Railway around 9.30 am. Fortunately, no one was injured. It was a narrow escape for the passengers.
Eyewitnesses have said that the coupling was broke down in the middle of the train and engine along with more than 10 boggies to travel few kilometers away from the rest of the train.
The guard of the train immediately contacted the driver to stop the train. He has also informed the senior officials of nearest Samastipur railway station and DRM office Sonpur.
Senior officials, along with technical teams, quickly reached the spot. They brought the engine and the boggies, rejoined with rest of the train. The train was finally departed to New Delhi after one hour of halt at the place. The Bihar Sampark Kranti express operates between Darbhanga to New Delhi.

An inquiry was initiated after the incident. According to an official, every train allowed to travel on the route only after proper technical inspections. This incident has been indicating negligence might have occurred in this case.
