Bihar government took a review meeting to build quality amenities in Rajgir cricket stadium having 40,000 capacities.

Patna December 13, 2024: The Building Construction Department of the Bihar government, chaired by Secretary Kumar Ravi, held a high-level review meeting on Friday to assess the progress of the Rajgir cricket stadium project.

The meeting included participation from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials via video conferencing, focusing on the parameters necessary for building a stadium that meets international standards.

Bihar government officials are consulting the technical team of BCCI:

Kumar Ravi directed departmental engineers to collaborate closely with BCCI’s technical team on all aspects of the construction process. BCCI officials highlighted requirements for meeting international standards and ensuring world-class infrastructure.

BCCI’s technical team is scheduled to visit Rajgir for an on-site inspection. During their visit, discussions will cover facilities required for the live telecast of cricket matches, construction of the pitch, consultations with the pitch curator to ensure international playability standards and others.

Ravi emphasized the importance of incorporating BCCI’s technical expertise to ensure the stadium is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, capable of hosting international cricket events.

The Rajgir cricket stadium project aims to position Bihar on the global cricket map, and this meeting marks a significant step towards achieving that goal.

“The construction of the Rajgir cricket stadium is progressing rapidly, with weekly reviews being conducted to ensure the project stays on track.” Kumar Ravi, Secretary of the Building Construction Department, said.

Spanning an impressive 72,843 square meters, the stadium is designed to accommodate 40,000 spectators and will feature extensive parking facilities to support large-scale events.

The stadium will be equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, including Pavilions and a VIP lounge for a premium viewing experience, practice pitches for facilities training sessions, Floodlights to enable day-night matches, a digital scoreboard for real-time match updates and others.

These features aim to position the Rajgir Cricket Stadium as a top-tier venue capable of hosting international cricket events and offering an unparalleled experience to players and spectators alike.

Kumar Ravi reaffirmed the commitment of Bihar government to developing the stadium to global standards, ensuring that every aspect of construction aligns with specifications set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
