A delegation of the industry department visited Tamilnadu to study advanced technology in the textile sector.

Patna November 29, 2024: A delegation of Bihar’s industry department undertook a strategic visit to Tamil Nadu, particularly to Tiruppur, to study the advanced technology in the textile sector, an official said.

Tiruppur is renowned globally as a centre of textile manufacturing excellence.

The delegation engaged with leading manufacturers and industry experts in Tiruppur to study advanced technologies, efficient processes, and best practices that have cemented the region’s global leadership in textiles.

This knowledge-sharing initiative aligns with Bihar’s commitment to establishing a sustainable and eco-friendly industrial framework. Sustainability is central to Bihar’s industrial strategy.

Bihar industry department plans to adopt eco-friendly technology:

The industry department of Bihar has planed to integrate green technologies and implement efficient processes to minimize environmental impact.

These efforts aim to curb pollution, enhance environmental stewardship, and drive industrial growth while maintaining ecological balance.

By adopting these measures, Bihar’s industry department seeks to attract investment, create jobs, and contribute to India’s economic progress through a modernized and responsible industrial sector.

The Government of Bihar is taking significant steps to emerge as a key hub for India’s textile and leather industries.

In line with this vision, the Department of Industries has actively sought to learn from established industrial regions.

Director of Industries, Bihar, Alok Ranjan Ghosh, underscored the importance of these initiatives, stating, “ Our visit to Tiruppur has equipped us with critical knowledge to replicate successful models in Bihar. By fostering a conducive environment through infrastructure, policy support, and incentives, we aim to transform Bihar into a thriving hub for textiles and generate large-scale employment opportunities.”

Textile Sector insights:

At Tiruppur, interactions with leading manufacturers and industry experts highlighted advanced processes, efficient production systems, and sustainability-focused innovations.

The delegation also studied R. K. Industries a 50-year-old garment manufacturer serving premium global brands.

Bihar’s proactive industrial policies were exemplified by the allocation of 72,000 sq. ft. of Plug and Play sheds to R. K. Industries in the Sikandarpur Industrial Area in Bihta. Patna, signaling an investor-friendly approach.

Leather Sector Innovations:

The team’s visit to Ranipet included a detailed study of the Zero Liquid Discharge(ZLD) plant operations at the Ranitec Common Effluent Treatment Plant. The plant recycles 85% of treated tannery wastewater, offering a model for eco-friendly industrial growth.
