Patna, July 8, 2025: In a significant move ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the Nitish Kumar-led government on Tuesday approved the formation of the Bihar Youth Commission, aiming to provide maximum employment opportunities and skill development for the state’s youth.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, which approved 43 key agendas, including development plans, appointments, and administrative and economic proposals across various departments.

Sharing the update on social media, CM Nitish Kumar posted: “I am happy to inform that with the aim of providing maximum employment opportunities to the youth of Bihar, training them, and making them empowered and capable, the state government has decided to constitute the Bihar Youth Commission, which has been approved by the cabinet today.”

About the Bihar Youth Commission:
The commission will advise the government on matters related to the development and upliftment of youth in the state.
It will coordinate with government departments to ensure better education and employment opportunities for Bihar’s youth.
The commission will consist of one chairman, two vice-chairmen, and seven members, with a maximum age limit of 45 years for appointment.
It will monitor the implementation of policies to ensure priority for local youth in private sector jobs within the state.

It will work to protect the interests of students and youth working outside Bihar.
It will prepare and recommend programs to the government for the prevention of alcohol and drug abuse among youth.
CM Nitish Kumar stated that the objective of his visionary initiative is to make the youth of Bihar self-reliant, skilled, and employment-oriented, ensuring a secure future for them.
The formation of the Bihar Youth Commission is seen as a significant outreach to the youth of the state, with the government aiming to address aspirations and employment challenges ahead of the crucial Assembly elections.
