Nitish Kumar-led Bihar cabinet approved 46 proposals; Green lights to marriage halls in panchayats.

Patna June 24, 2025: In a significant move ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections, the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar Cabinet on Tuesday approved 46 proposals during a meeting held at the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
Ministers from all departments were present as several key welfare initiatives were cleared.
One of the major decisions was the approval of the ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Mandap Yojana’ under which marriage halls will be constructed in every panchayat across the state to support the wedding ceremonies of daughters from economically weaker section families in rural areas.
The Nitish Kumar government has earmarked Rs 4026 crore for the implementation of this scheme.
Nitish Kumar announced the cabinet-approved projects on social media:
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, sharing the announcement on social media, stated:
“I am happy to inform you that our government will construct marriage halls in all panchayats to facilitate the marriage ceremony of daughters of poor families in rural areas.

These marriage halls will be operated by Jeevika Didis.”
Nitish Kumar emphasized that the initiative would bring major relief to poor families and boost local empowerment through Jeevika self-help groups.
Rs 20 subsidized meal plan approved for public institutions:
Another major decision taken was the reduction of meal prices provided through the Didi Ki Rasoi initiative—from Rs 40 to Rs 20 per plate—in all government medical colleges, hospitals and public offices.
The state will subsidize Rs 20 per plate, ensuring that patients, attendants and visitors can access affordable, hygienic food.
“The minimum cost per plate is around Rs 40 hence the government will compensate Jeevika by Rs 20 per plate. This move will offer convenience to poor families and those coming from remote areas to district headquarters and health institutions,” CM Kumar said.
The subsidized meal service will also be extended to collectorates, sub-divisional offices, and Block and Zonal offices, making nutritious food more accessible to public across the state.
Rs 15 lakh fund for village Mikhiyas:
In addition, the Nitish Kumar cabinet also approved a proposal to empower village heads (Mukhiyas) to spend up to Rs 15 lakh on government welfare and development schemes within their jurisdictions.
This is expected to enhance the responsiveness and efficiency of local governance.
