Samrat Choudhary highlighted Bihar Pension Diwas:
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s decision to observe the 10th of every month as ‘Bihar Pension Diwas’.
He said the initiative aims to ensure that pension payments are credited to the bank accounts of all eligible beneficiaries through DBT on a fixed date every month.
Addressing the programme, Samrat Choudhary said the welfare of senior citizens, persons with disabilities, widows, and other vulnerable sections remained a priority for the government.

“Today, from the ‘Sankalp’ auditorium at Lok Sevak Awas, on the occasion of ‘Bihar Pension Diwas,’ a sum of Rs 1,423.94 crore was transferred via DBT to the accounts of 97.84 lakh social security pensioners in Bihar.
Our government is fully committed to the dignity, respect, and social security of the poor, the marginalized, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and needy sections of society,” the Chief Minister said.
Samrat Choudhary directed officials to organize ‘Sahyog Shivir’ (Assistance Camps) and utilize ‘Panchayat Vikas Diwas’ programs to identify eligible beneficiaries who are yet to receive pensions.
He instructed officials to ensure no eligible pensioners are excluded from the scheme, expedite Aadhaar linkage for beneficiaries whose bank accounts are not yet linked, complete verification of pending life certificates, and ensure pension distribution remains timely, transparent, and universal.
Focus on social security:
Samrat Choudhary said the government’s objective extends beyond financial assistance to strengthening the dignity, security, and confidence of vulnerable citizens.
He also noted that the increase in the monthly social security pension from Rs 400 to 1,00 has significantly improved the lives of beneficiaries and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding social welfare coverage.
The program was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Social Welfare Minister Dr. Shweta Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, District Magistrate, and social security pension beneficiaries from all districts who participated in the event through video conferencing.

According to the government, Bihar has more than one crore social security pension beneficiaries under six different pension schemes, with senior citizens forming the largest category.
Officials said some beneficiaries did not receive pension payments because their bank accounts were not linked with Aadhaar or their life certificates had not been verified,
