Patna, May 18, 2026: Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Monday undertook an extensive visit to the globally renowned Nalanda University campus in Rajgir, reviewing its academic ecosystem, infrastructure, and sustainable development model.
The visit aimed to assess the university’s academic activities as well as its unique net-zero eco-friendly framework, which has positioned it as a model institution for sustainable campuses.
Pratyaya Amrit emphasized academic excellence and global standards:
During the visit, senior faculty members briefed Pratyaya Amrit on the University’s academic structure and legacy.
Nalanda University currently hosts several internationally recognized schools, including the School of Historical Studies, the School of Ecology and Environmental Studies, and the School of Buddhist Studies.
Officials highlighted the institution’s growing global engagement and its role in reviving Nalanda’s historic reputation as a centre of learning.
Inspection of world-class infrastructure:
Pratyaya Amrit inspected key facilities across the campus, including the state-of-the-art library, Sushma Swaraj auditorium, yoga complex, and academic blocks.
He appreciated the seamless integration of ancient Nalanda architectural aesthetics with modern technology, calling it a unique feature of the campus.

A major highlight of the visit was the university’s sustainability initiative.
Pratyaya Amrit took particular interest in the 6.5 MW solar power plant, the biogas plant, and the rainwater harvesting systems.
He remarked that the university’s net-zero carbon footprint model should serve as an inspiration for other institutions across Bihar.
Nalanda, a global symbol of knowledge:
Addressing officials and faculty, the chief secretary said, Nalanda has been a symbol of knowledge for the entire world. This new campus beautifully blends ancient heritage with modern innovation. The state government is committed to supporting its growth as a global hub of education.”
Officials, including the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police of Nalanda, were also present during the visit.
The administration briefed Pratyaya Amrit on ongoing infrastructure and development works around the campus.
Concluding his visit, Pratyaya Amrit expressed confidence that Nalanda University would further strengthen India’s academic ties with Southeast Asia and other regions, reinforcing its role as a global knowledge hub.
