CM Samrat Choudhary reviews development works, pushes for faster completion of Patna metro.

Patna, April 27, 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Monday directed officials to accelerate construction work on the Patna Metro Rail Project, emphasizing the need for its timely completion to ease urban commuting.

During a high-level review meeting held at Samvad Hall in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Patna, Samrat Choudhary specifically instructed that the metro corridor connecting Malahi Pakri to Rajendra Nagar Terminal be completed at the earliest.

He also stressed the expeditious extension of the metro network up to Patna Junction.

Highlighting the broader vision, Samrat Choudhary noted that early interconnectivity between ISBT, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, and Patna Junction would significantly improve public transportation and reduce congestion in the state capital.

Samrat Choudhary took a review of the key urban and rural development schemes:   

The review meeting included officials from the Urban Development and Housing Department, Panchayati Raj Department, and Tourism Department.

Senior official Vinay Kumar presented updates on major central schemes such as Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), and Swachh Bharat Mission.

Updates were also shared on sanitation, waste management, CCTV installation in urban bodies, solar lighting initiatives, drainage systems, and city master plans.

Focus on infrastructure, sanitation and housing:

Samrat Choudhary emphasized that all urban infrastructure projects must be completed within stipulated timelines while maintaining high-quality standards.

He directed officials to ensure rapid delivery of housing under PMAY (Urban) to all eligible beneficiaries, strengthen sanitation and drinking water systems across cities, implement solid waste management effectively using the PPP model, and expand and modernize sewage networks.

He also instructed that all sewage treatment plants, especially those along the Ganga River, remain fully operational and that ongoing construction be expedited.

Rural development and monitoring measures:

Reviewing rural initiatives, Samrat Choudhary directed that solar street lights installed under state schemes remain functional with a proper monitoring system at the designated locations and CCTV cameras be installed in every Gram Panchayat.

Officials from the Panchayati Ram Department also briefed the Chief Minister on ongoing and proposed rural projects.

Meanwhile, Shashank Subhankar, the district magistrate of Gaya, presented development plans for the Mahabidhi Temple corridor and the Vishnupad Temple corridor, aiming to boost religious tourism in the region.

Concluding the meeting, CM Samrat Choudhary reiterated the need for transparency, accountability, and speed in governance.

He stressed that the efficient implementation of schemes and the timely execution of infrastructural projects are crucial to accelerating Bihar’s development and improving public services.
