Patna, April 24, 2026: The government led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary successfully passed the floor test in the Bihar Legislative Assembly on Friday, securing a vote of confidence through a voice vote.
Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar congratulated the new government after the motion was declared passed.
Notably, the opposition, led by Tejashwi Yadav, did not press for a division of votes, allowing the motion to be cleared without a formal count.
Samrat Choudhary’s statement in the house:
The one-day special session witnessed intense exchanges between the treasury benches and the opposition.
During the debate, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary made strong remarks on Tejashwi Yadav and opposition leaders.
“Power is no one’s personal fiefdom. No one comes here from any particularly ‘school’—this is a democracy,” the Chief Minister said.

Responding to Tejashwi Yadav’s remarks about political lineage, Choudhary invoked Lalu Prasad Yadav, stating that his own political journey was shaped through struggle.
He claimed that hardships faced during the previous regime played a role in shaping his career, adding that he rose through public support rather than inheritance.
“If I am here today, it is because of the blessings of the people of Bihar and the guidance of leaders like Nitish Kumar,” he said.
Credits alliance leadership:
Samrat Choudhary also acknowledged the support of key NDA leaders, including Narendra Modi, Chirag Paswan, and Upendra Kushwaha, asserting that the coalition remains united.

He emphasized that leadership in a democracy is determined by the people, not by lineage or affiliation.
Political significance:
While the NDA already held a clear majority, the successful trust vote formally establishes the legitimacy of the new government led by Samrat Choudhary.
The developments mark a significant moment in Bihar’s evolving political landscape, following the recent change in leadership.
