Patna, April 15, 2026: Following the formation of the new government in Bihar under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, the allocation of portfolios among the top leadership has been finalized.

As per the official notification issued by Governor Syed Ata Hasnain, Samrat Choudhary and his two Deputy Chief Ministers have taken charge of key departments, while portfolios for other ministers will be assigned after cabinet expansion.

CM Samrat Choudhary holds key departments:Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has retained a wide range of crucial departments, totaling 29.

These include: General administration, Home, Cabinet Secretariat, Vigilance,, Election, Revenue and Land Reforms, Mines and Geology, Urban Development and Housing, Health, Law, Industries, Road Construction, Agriculture, Minor Water Resources, labour Resources and Migrant Worker Welfare, Youth, Employment and Skill Development, Tourism, Art and Culture, Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources, Disaster Management, Backward Class, Extremely Backward Class Welfare, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare, Information Technology, Sports, Co-operative, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Sugarcane Industry, Public Health Engineering, and Panchayati Raj.

He will also oversee any departments not yet allocated.

Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Choudhary gets 10 departments:

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary has been assigned 10 key portfolios, including Water Resources, Parliamentary Affairs, Information and Public Relations, Building Construction, Minority Welfare, Education, Science, Technology and Technical Education, Rural Development, Transport, and Higher Education.

Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav handles finance and energy:

Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav will oversee 8 departments, including some of the most critical ones, including Energy, Planning and Development, Prohibition, Excise, Registration, Finance, Commercial Tax, Social Welfare, Food and Consumer Protection, and Rural Works department.

Oath ceremony marks new government formation:

The new government formally took shape after Samrat Choudhary was sworn in as Chief Minister at the Lok Bhavan in Patna.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Governor Syed Ata Hasnain.

Alongside him, Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, both considered close associates of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, also took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers.

The remaining ministers will be inducted soon, after which a complete distribution of portfolios will be carried out.
