Patna, April 13, 2026: In a proactive move to mitigate monsoon-related disruptions, Rao Narbir Singh, Haryana’s Industries and Commerce Minister, has directed all concerned departments to complete preparations to address waterlogging in Gurugram by June 15.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at the PWD Rest House in Gurugram on Monday, Rao Narbir Singh emphasized that timely and coordinated action is essential to ensure that residents do not face inconvenience during the rainy season.

He also announced that a follow-up review meeting will be held around mid-June to assess progress.

Senior officials from key urban development agencies, including GMDA, Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), Municipal Corporation Maneser (MCM), SHVP, NHAI, HSIIDC, and the police department, were present during the meeting.

Prominent attendees included D.S. Dhesi, P.C. Meena, Pradeep Dahiya, and Vaishali Singh, among others.

Rao Narbir Singh directed officials to focus on coordination and ground-level execution:

Highlighting the importance of inter-departmental synergy, Rao Narbir Singh stated that only a unified and coordinated approach can deliver a lasting solution to recurring waterlogging issues in the city.

Officials from the Gurugram Metropolitan Department Authority (GMDA) informed that rapid progress is being made at nine major waterlogging-prone locations.

In addition, cleaning of nearly 160 km of surface drains is in progress.

The officials also highlighted that central verges and green belts are being lowered to improve water flow. In Narshinghpur, an existing earthen drain is being upgraded into a paved structure.

Efforts are also being made to enhance drainage connectivity at critical junctions such as IFFCO Chowk, Signature Tower Chowk, Rajiv Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk.

The MCG reported that work has been initiated at 40 locations affected by sewerage problems, with the majority already completed.

The remaining work is expected to be finished before the onset of the monsoon.

Rao Narbir Singh also directed regular inspections of Micro Sewerage Treatment Plants installed in city parks, all of which are currently operational.

Long-pending issues nearing completion:

A significant development highlighted during the meeting was the near completion of a permanent solution to the long-standing sewerage issues in Rajendra Park, expected to be resolved by the end of April.

Additionally, a treated water supply has been ensured for 142 parks across the city, with work ongoing at other locations.

Rao Narbir Singh instructed officials to prioritize drainage improvements in the Najafgarh drain region, the Narsinghpur area, and the area along the National Highway.

He stressed that all departments must work in a time-bound and coordinated manner to minimize waterlogging and ensure a hassle-free monsoon for Gurugram residents.
