Patna, April 12, 2026: Amid fast-moving political developments around the formation of a new government, there has been an intensification, with frequent meetings and consultations taking place within the ruling alliance.
Senior JDU leader and Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said that Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has been making regular visits to the residence of Nitish Kumar.
He described these meetings as part of the ongoing consultation necessary ahead of government formation, emphasizing that such interactions are natural given the current circumstances.
On being asked about cabinet discussions, Chaudhary clarified that no formal talks have taken place so far.
He stated that the immediate priority is the formation of the new government, and only afterward will deliberations on cabinet composition and expansion begin.
Timeline for new government:
Providing a broad timeline, Chaudhary said that the wait will not be long.
“The situation will become clear within a few days,” he remarked, urging both the public and the media to remain patient as the final blueprint is being worked out.
Addressing speculation over leadership change, he indicated that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may resign soon, although he refrained from giving a specific date.

He assured that clarity on the timeline will be announced shortly.
On the crucial question of the next Chief Minister, Chaudhary made it clear that the decision lies with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
He explained that the BJP will select its nominee, and the NDA MLAs will then hold a meeting to elect their leader. The unanimously chosen leader will become the Chief Minister.
He acknowledged the BJP’s central role in the process, adding that the final decision will follow its internal procedures and signals.
Cabinet meeting speculation:
Regarding a possible cabinet meeting, Chaudhary said there is a likelihood of it being held on Tuesday, but no official confirmation has been issued yet.
Overall, Bihar’s political landscape appears to be at a decisive juncture.

The flurry of meetings and statements suggests that a transition of power is imminent.
All eyes are now on the final announcement—when the new government will be formed and who will take over as the next Chief Minister.
