Amit Shah inaugurates Rs 1,132 crore projects in Haridwar, highlights development in Uttarakhand.

New Delhi, March 7, 2026: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for public welfare projects worth more than Rs 1,132 crore in Haridwar on the completion of four years of the government led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

The event was attended by several leaders, including Union Minister Ajay Tamta.

Addressing the gathering, Shah said the occasion marked not only four years of the Dhami government but also nine years of his party’s rule in Uttarakhand.

He recalled the struggle of the people of the state for a separate identity and referred to the Rampur Tiraha firing incident, where several youth lost their lives during the movement for statehood.

He credited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee with the creation of Uttarakhand as a separate state, along with Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

Amit Shah claimed the past 9 years were a golden period of Uttarakhand:

Shah said that while Vajpayee created the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now strengthening and shaping its development.

He described the past nine years as a “golden period” of development for Uttarakhand.

He added that the Dhami government has worked systematically to resolve the state’s problems and accelerate development.

Amit Shah said that 1,900 youths have recently received jobs as police constables in Uttarakhand.

Infrastructure and development projects: 

Amit Shah highlighted several major infrastructure initiatives in Uttarakhand, including the Char Dham Mahamarg Project, which connects key pilgrimage sites such as Kedarnath Temple, Badrinath Temple, Gangotri Temple, and Yamunotri Temple.

He also mentioned projects like the Delhi—Dehradun Economic Corridor and development under the Parvatmala Pariyojana ropeway initiative.

The Home Minister cited the impact of several central government schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat, Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

He said the state’s per capita income and Gross State Product (GSP) have increased significantly over the past decade.

Concluding his address, Shah urged the people of Uttarakhand to continue supporting development-oriented governance.

 He also highlighted preparations for the upcoming Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2027, describing it as a matter of pride for the entire country.
