NHAI issues LOA for 111-km capital region Ring Road in Odisha.

New Delhi, March 3, 2026: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued the Letter of Award (LOA) for the construction of the six-lane, access-controlled Greenfield Capital Region Ring Road (Bhubaneshwar Bypass) Project in Odisha.
The 111-km-long ring road will be developed from Rameshwar to Tangi in three packages under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM). The project is expected to be completed within approximately 30 months from the date of commencement.
NHAI’s major packages for Odisha:
Package—1 Rameshwar to Bilipada (40 km) has been awarded to Patel Infrastructure Limited for constructing a 40-km six-lane section with paved shoulders. NHAI key features include: 12.4 km service road on each side, 2interchanges, 1 Road Over Bridge (ROB), 10 minor bridges, 142 culverts, 1 wayside amenity, 7 elevated underpasses, 8 vehicular and light vehicle underpasses (VUPs/LVUPs/SVUPs).
Packages—2 Bilipada to Gobindpur (30 km) has been awarded to VRC Constructions (India) Limited for constructing a 30-km six-lane stretch. Project components include: 7.2 km service road on each side, 3 interchanges, 11 minor bridges, 90 culverts, 1 wayside amenity, 3 elevated underpasses, multiple VUPs, LVUPs, and SVUPs.

Packages—3 Gobindpur to Tangi (40 km) has been awarded to Hg Infra Engineering Limited for constructing a 40-km six-lane section from Gobindpur to Tangi near Bandola Toll Plaza.
Major features include: 10 km service/slip road on each side, 1 interchange, 23 minor bridges, 69 culverts, 1 wayside amenity, 2 elevated underpasses, 6 VUPs, 16 LVUPs, and 3 SVUPs.
Boost to regional connectivity:
Designed for a speed of 100 kmph, the Capital Region Ring Road (Bhubaneswar Bypass) is expected to significantly decongest urban traffic in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Khordha.
The access-controlled corridor is projected to enhance regional mobility, reduce logistics costs, generate employment opportunities, support long-term economic growth, and promote safer, faster, and more sustainable transportation.

Once completed, the project is expected to become a key infrastructure backbone for the capital region of Odisha, improving connectivity while easing traffic pressure in major urban centres.
