New Delhi, March 2, 2026: Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers inducted from State Civil Services and currently attending the 128th Induction Training Program at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) called on the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (March 2, 2026).

Addressing the officers, the President underscored the vital role they play in the nation-building process.

The president highlighted the jobs of IAS officers:

She stated that as IAS officers, their responsibilities now extend far beyond district or state priorities, requiring a broader national perspective that transcends departmental boundaries and dismantles administrative silos.

She emphasized that collaboration and coordination among institutions are essential to strengthening the machinery of governance. Their collective professionalism, integrity, and commitment, she said, are crucial for delivering development outcomes and upholding the highest standards of public service.

The President reminded the officers that they are no longer administrators confined to specific regions but custodians of governance standards across the nation.

Every decision they take, she noted, should align with the broader vision of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Highlighting their core responsibilities, she said IAS officers are expected to implement policies effectively to fulfil the needs and aspirations of citizens.

She encouraged them to draw upon their valuable experience and remain guided by the spirit of “Nation First” as they navigate increasingly complex administrative challenges.

The President emphasized inclusive development:

Stressing the importance of inclusive development, the President said India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation would be meaningful only if its benefits reach the most vulnerable and deprived sections of society.

She urged the officers to ensure that no community is left behind due to geographical, social, or economic disadvantages.

She also highlighted sustainability and climate resilience as critical areas requiring their focused commitment. As senior administrators, she said, they must champion green practices, promote climate-adaptive governance, and ensure sustainable development.

The president underlined that collective actions taken today will determine the quality of life for future generations.
